Spring Full Moon Weekend Overnight Cycling and Camping Trip
Spring Full Moon Weekend Overnight Cycling and Camping Trip
This overnighter is the first weekend after Memorial Day. For riders with big plans for 2026, the point of this trip is for you to do an early-season test run of any new gear, do a shakedown before your longer trips, and connect with old and new friends. If you're new to camping or new to using your bike frame to carry camping equipment, this is an easy trial to see if you like it. The community of experienced riders will be so encouraging and your guide will ensure that nobody is left alone with a flat tire or carrying too heavy a load. Helmets required!
Riders pre-trip meeting and safety check at Saturday 10am with wheels down by 10:30am. We ride 25 miles on a mix of bike trails and public roads and make a lunch stop right before we arrive at the creekside campsite in Columbia County. In camp riders are free to do whatever they want - more riding, campfire cooking, gear shakedown requests... Your guide will prepare a light snack in camp, but riders are on their own for dinner. The full moon overnight should be delightful.
In the morning riders prepare their own coffee and breakfasts as we all take our sweet time packing up before we ride 15 miles back to our starting point in Hudson, NY. We return by the early afternoon with 40 miles in total, and about 1500ft of climbing, which is pretty darn flat for this area.
